Charlotte Makes Regional Selection
The Junior Squad from Trent Rowing Club visited the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, on Sunday to take part in a time trials event. The event which was organised by British Rowing was the selection process to represent the East Midlands Region, at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta. The junior 14, 15, and 16 athletes all raced over a distance of 1500 metres in various crews which included single sculling, double sculling, and quadruple sculling boats, against other rowing clubs from across the region.
Trent’s Charlotte Warren-French, competing in the Women’s J15 single sculling event made team selection by beating the other five scullers in her category in what was a very closely contested race, winning the event by only 1 second. Charlotte will return to Holme Pierrepont on the 21st April to represent the East Midlands against the other seven regions that make up England and Wales.
All the Burton competitors put in good personal performances, in what were ‘good’ weather conditions for the notorious Nottingham course due to its open flat surroundings.
Well Done Charlotte, and Good Luck in April.
