GOLD for Trent Masters at Strathclyde

Trent Masters travelled to Glasgow last weekend to complete in the British Masters Rowing Championships being held at the Strathclyde Country Park for the first time.

Trent Rowing Club’s athletes took to the water on the Sunday morning, being represented by Shaun Carlton-Greaves, Lee Newbold, James Russell, and Luke McDonagh in the Masters A-C Quadruple Sculls event.  In near perfect conditions unlike the day before on the Loch the quad came off the start strong and immediately started to command the race.  Stroke by stroke they opened up the lead, and by 250mts had open water between them and the London Otters Rowing Club.  Sticking to their race plan the quad pushed up the efforts at each 250mt marker and crossed the line some 200mts ahead of the Otters in second place, taking the Gold Medal in a time of 3 minutes and 33 seconds, a personal best time for the crew.

The event had attracted a total of 444 crews from 81 clubs from across the UK and Europe to compete over the 1000mt course.
